Maybe you just have an older Mac without the new software, but a superdrive.

Let’s get down to the bare bones minimum.

Let’s suppose you just have a Mac with a combo drive that just reads and burns CDs.

Let’s also suppose that you like to make cakes. You’ve made a few for family members. Had a few birthday cakes for friends. You know your way around the kitchen.

The quickest way to create a product is to explain what you know and record it on your hard drive for burning later.

First, get yourself a nice quality headset that records directly into your computer. I use one from Plantronics.

Next get yourself a program that edits sound. A nice one is from Audacity.

Get yourself comfortable. Close the door to your office. Take the phone off the hook.

Hopefully you’ve made an outline of what you’re going to speak about in your cake making production.

Listen.

It’s not hard. Just speak normally about what you know about cake making.

Once you’re done recording, listen for the pauses, the ums, ers, ehs, etc., and delete them, so the recording is smooth. If you feel like being fancy, you can take some royalty-free music, and put a little intro of music and exit of music like the big boys.

You now burn your CD.

Viola! You have your first product.

You could also add a manual with pictures that you faithfully uploaded into iPhoto along with the descriptions of your step-by-step cake making secrets.

The process is the same whether you are talking about beekeeping, using your Macintosh for accounting, or raising beagle puppies.

More Info? It doesn’t matter if you have the newest Power Mac, iMac, Airbook, Mac Mini, or whatever, the process is the same.

What are people buying?

What are people interested in?

Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not advocating selling or marketing ANYTHING that people want. You must draw the line. What is the best product?

What is the good product?

What product fits with your morals and ethics? You must be able to sleep at night with yourself based on the products you create.

Someone once said that if you give people what they need, they would beat a path to your door to buy what you have.

Not so.

People buy what they WANT.

So, your biggest challenge is to find out what people are buying and develop a product around an already successful niche. How do you find out what’s popular?

Go to the magazine rack at your local bookstore. Thumb through the ads. What ads keep coming up over and over in different publications? What ads keep showing up in the same magazine?

Once you have found an interesting niche, put on your thinking cap. Can you create a report about this? iWork would be perfect for this.

Can you interview someone about the niche? Burning a CD would work nicely on your Mac for this.

Is there someone who would show you his or her skill in a particular niche?

You could use iMovie and iDVD for this product.

But before we continue further, we need to test market our product.

The best place I have found to test market products is Ebay. You have millions of people shopping every day for a special item. You can place an ad for an information product and in three days know if the market is interested in it.

You don’t have to pay for a website. You don’t have to get a merchant credit account. You don’t have to do a joint venture. You don’t have to wait for a print ad to come out. You don’t have to answer the phone.

And best of all, you can get a product up and for sale in a few minutes. You can create a product in a few hours. Then you can make money, week-in, week-out.

Just like I’ve done.

More Info? Just ’bout everywhere ye turn someones got their ear in those iPod thingees, listening to music.

Ya reckon Apple’s gonna make a computer as small as one o’ them iPods?

I say it’s a comin’!

Purty soon one of them cumputer thingees is gonna be
embedded in my skin … I don’t want no part of it!

No, this is not what the conversation is about here in the Ozarks, but at times, it gets pretty close.

Since moving down here from Chicago, I am constantly amazed at the way people see things here. Mind you, it’s nice to have a pace that is several times slower than what’s happening only 500 miles north of me.

However, when you talk Macs and all things Macintosh here, a lot of people laugh and think you’re talking toys. Yes, even today.

I was at a Chamber of Commerce luncheon yesterday making a presentation for my company and mentioned that I was working on a project that would show others how to make profits with a Macintosh computer.

A gentleman at the table remarked, laughing, that I needed a lotta luck to make that happen.

Interestingly enough, after my presentation, the mayor of that small town stuffed her card in my hand and asked me to call her right away.
Anyway, the Mac users in this area are for the most part a pretty good bunch, but a lot of them are still using older Macs and haven’t gotten up to speed.

I equate that to the fact that this whole area is filled with rural folk who have always been able to “make do” with what was on hand and not jump into things too hasty.

So, what I was thinking, since a lot of us Mac users are in our own little world so to speak, how many people out there still think the Mac is only good for educators, graphic artists, or movie makers?

(Hmmm, that’s a pretty big list)

Only time will tell if Apple’s push into the mainstream with it’s Mac Revolution will create an even bigger market share or just passing interest.

As for those of us that have used Macintosh computers for years to run our businesses, we’ll continue to work merrily along with our Macs.

Time will tell.

Want to know more about being a Macinfopreneur©? We were poor, but I didn't really know it until later in life and compared notes with friends.

Working a part-time job while going to school and then a full-time job while attending college got old fast!

By the time I was in my mid-thirties, I had tried mlm, cookware sales, performing, publishing, mail order, used car sales, and just about everything I could do to create more income. It was becoming clear that the only way to make any real money was to own my own business.

But as I looked around and saw people who had businesses that were creating a good cashflow for them, I found most of them working 60, 70, or 80 hours a week.

These business owners had changed from working a job for someone else to owning a job that worked them far harder than any other career.

That didn't seem right.

It wasn't until I wrote my second book and produced my second info product that the light bulb finally went off.

If you're planning to start your own profitable business, there's nothing better than starting a business that sells information. And there is no better tool for creating an information product than the Macintosh.

With the release of new incarnations of iLife and iWork every year, the Macintosh is positioned to be THE greatest tool the entrepreneur has for making profits in their business. The Macintosh is perfect for those daring souls who wish to start a business right from their homes.

Today the new currency is information. Information that can be applied.

Information that is useful. Information that solves problems.

This information must be easily accessible. It must be easy to distribute.

Apple has taken its digital hub and without realizing it, created a tool that allows ANYONE to create information as simply as speaking a few words, as simply as turning on a digital movie camera, as simply as taking a few photos.

Does this mean we will now see a rush to get information products to market?

Maybe. Maybe not.

When the desktop revolution began, we saw a few people step out and create some good products. We saw a lot of people trying to create products. It was only with time that the pioneers figured out how to make things work.

This new revolution will be different.

Apple has established such an elegant interface, and such an easy way to create, that rank tyros can put together passable projects and products in short order.

Want to be a Macinfopreneur©? With both feet. Went to meetings. Drove hundreds of miles to talk to prospects. Signed people up. This went on for a couple of months until exhaustion set in. Did I make money?
Yes. Did I make a profit?

Yes.

Why?

Because I spent my time doing the things I had to do to get the job done. That is both the solution and the problem for most people. People don't have enough time to live the life they were born to live. Someone once told me the real skinny on how the real corporate world works.

You just get out of college. You get your resumes out. A company hires you for a good chunk of change. You're happy. After a couple of years, you get a raise, a promotion. Buy a new house. A new car. Fancy clothes. You're in hock up to your neck.

But that's OK. You've got a good job. You're paying the bills. You're making just enough to pay everything and have a little bit of spending money. When your tax refund comes in every year, you use that to catch up or buy yourself a little gift. You don't have time to do anything else except work and pay the bills.

And, oh, by the way, in many cases by the time you reach your forties, your salary is more than the corporation wants to pay, so your job is eliminated. Hold on, you say. You know you've got to do something, so you started a little part-time business that you can devote 40 hours a month to.
You stop watching TV. You get up early. You stay up late. You have a dream. You press on.

Let's think about this.

You are doing the right things to move ahead, but you have one big disadvantage.

TIME.

If you love making cakes and have 40 hours a month to make cakes and you are head-to head with a local bakery that has 360 hours a month to bake and sell cakes, your prospects look slim for victory. How do you combat this lack of time?

There is no simple answer.

You need to get back to basics and determine what's important in life. Is giving your life to your job what you want? Do you want to give your life for something higher? Do you have a cause? Do you want to create something that will last? Do you just want to provide a good living for your family without the hassles of the corporate environment? Maybe all you want is an extra $500 a month so you can cut back on the corporate treadmill. There is a one-word solution to this problem.

LEVERAGE.

This is where the Macintosh computer comes to the rescue. There is no better machine that allows you to get more things done in less time. If you do not have much time, you have to do something that will make one hour do the work of ten. Instead of one person hearing your story or looking at your product, you can have thousands become aware of your business in a very short time. With your Macintosh computer, an internet connection, and Ebay you can make cash quickly because of leverage.

Ebay is such a huge marketplace, that with a good idea and a Mac, you can create a product and make sales in just a few days. All you need is some photos, iTune, iMovie, and your Mac and you are ready to start.

For example: Let's say you have a big family. When it comes time to decorate the wedding cakes, everyone calls you. You've liked baking cakes for years. You get out a camera. Take pictures of you decorating the cake. You create some slides in iMovie or Keynote. Put it all together in iMovie and burn to disc in iDVD.

You place an ad in Ebay for your how-to-do-it Wedding Cake Decorating DVD.

Ka-ching! Orders come in.

You've created a new cash stream for yourself.

The Mac is what makes it easy.

Need More Macintosh Cash? But more importantly, I have actually created products to sell on my Mac. I learned long ago that any tool I buy for my business has to pay its way.

When I first saw the Macintosh back in the mid 1980's, I thought that it was a pretty nifty piece of equipment and immediately looked at how it could save me time and effort.

At the time, I didn't have a printer, so I would have to work on my little Mac and go to the printer to buy copies from their laser printers. I would even take my floppies and go to a 'full screen' printer that had those big, tall monitors (remember those?) so I could work more effectively.

I was always creating a flyer, promo piece, or other give-away with my Mac. I kept trying to figure out how to pay for my expenses with this fine computer. Things kicked into overdrive when I got my new printer.

Anyway, as a result of this program with the printer, I had to print 3100 pages a month or pay a $100 dollar fee. So, I started to think, "What can I print monthly to get my printing up?"

I decided to write a workbook about my experience as a performer and include a lot of my marketing materials I had already created. I ended up creating several versions of the book, getting endorsements from other performers, and selling many copies every month.

Needless to say, I created and print these copies from my trusty Macintosh.

Problem solved.

I surpassed my 3100 pages per month years ago in my Mac office, because I have several products now that I market that have all been created on my Mac. Not just print mind you, but audio and video as well.

What do you do once the product is created on your Mac?

We'll get to that in a minute.

If you've owned a Macintosh of any type for any amount of time, you've had friends, neighbors; even family members ridicule your choice of computer.

But you stood fast.

You took the barbs, survived the mockery.

You KNEW that which you had was a better machine. You KNEW a Mac fit your inner desire for creativity. You KNEW a Mac fueled that longing to get things done.

You VIEWED the world differently. Or as Apple so fondly puts it, 'Think different.'

In order to make profits with the Mac, you must also think different.

My wife, Debbie, worked for a large national company for over twenty-three years. She spent her early years with the company learning the ropes, starting from the ground up.

Promotion followed promotion. Debbie flew all over the country opening up projects for the company. Kept making more money every year. She was secure in knowing that her work would create the income she needed and was safe until retirement.

Then the bomb fell.

The corporation said they were "phasing out" Debbie's position, but in reality, the corporation wanted to save money and hire someone else, younger, for less pay.

Bammo. Out of work.

Now, as Debbie had made clear to me, as her former corporation tried to help her find a job, the consultants said repeatedly, "You don't want to be an entrepreneur, it's not secure."

Hmmmm. Ask Debbie if she feels secure.

She now asks me how to sell products, how to run a business. She is even took classes on being an entrepreneur.

Now, listen.

You may be comfortable in a job, make good money, and like working for set pay, certain hours, and benefits.

But as an entrepreneur, you must think different.

The fact you have a Macintosh computer puts you ahead of the game because you are swimming against the tide and loving it.

If you want to create products that sell with the Macintosh, you must learn to keep your eyes open to opportunities.

We know that the Mac is superior in creating photo albums, creating movies, creating DVDs, creating sound, creating colorful documents. All of these creative benefits of owning a Macintosh factor into thinking about product creation.

Next, as a MacInfopreneur©, you must determine is there a want for a product that you might envision? It is more important to determine what people are buying and gear your product to that market than to create something people need.

A good case in point is Apple's iPod. Millions were sold last year. So we know that millions of people have these handy mp3 players. So, what was created on the heels of the iPod?

Speakers, covers, earbuds, special docking systems, and too many other gadgets to mention. What you have to realize in creating an information product for any market is determine what people want.

Now, before we go, there is one more thing I want to talk to you about...

Quite obviously, you've got to know how to develop and create a product that the public wants on your Mac for an easy home business. And, let's be honest, you'd like to create something that will sell like crazy, right?

The problem is that it takes a lot of time to create a product to sell, doesn't it?

Most home business owners NEVER finish their projects. Why?

Running a home business WITHOUT a Mac is HARD!

Most people never really get started.

As I mentioned earlier, I created a manual for performers called Outrageous Marketing For Magicians, then I wrote The Magician's Emergency Toolkit.

These manuals took about a month to produce, working night and day.

However, I learned new methods since then and can create products quickly.

Two weeks ago, I sat down at my Mac, put on some headphones with mic, and within two hours had created a new product.

I then wrote a simple letter explaining what the product was about (Performing for resorts).

I sent the letter to ONLY 35 people.

I made $591.

Total time invested: 6 hours

Would you like to earn $98 an hour?

It's possible.

It's possible to do this without having a website, not knowing a thing about internet marketing, and never having marketed a product before.

But if you have a Mac and some desire, this can happen for you.

Easily.

Without taking out a loan to start a new business.

Without thumbing through hundreds of pages of mind-numbing technical gibberish or hogwash.

Without buying a bunch of new software.

Without a long learning curve.

You've just got to put on your thinking cap.

The opportunities are endless.

The Macintosh computer is the tool that makes creativity flow... especially for MacInfopreneurs. ©

If you want more information about becoming a Macinfopreneur©, go to http://www.macintoshcash.com
